This 3D-scanning Mirror Reveals The Truth About Your Body
Naked labs has created the world’s first at-home 3D body scanning mirror that builds 360 degree images of users. Although still in its infancy, it is changing the way we think about and interact with body composition. The device is able to keep track of your body fat percentage, fat mass, body measurements and much more.
The 3D body scanners use 3D depth sensors to identify the location and shape of the body. It takes a number of either static two-dimensional images or three-dimensional depth maps of the body and then uses these images to create a 3D avatar of the body.
How does Naked’s 3D scanning work?
The 3D body scanning mirror consists of two parts, a rotating weight scale, and a stationary mirror. As the rotating weight scale spins you around, the Naked collects depth maps using three Intel® RealSense™ depth sensors embedded behind the mirror. These depth maps are stitched together to create your 3D body model. That body model is sent to the cloud, where Naked uses proprietary algorithms to extract meaning from the avatar, which translates to the metrics – like circumferences and body fat – you see in the Naked App.
