Alucobond Headquarters Showcases Company’s Commitment To Innovation
The FAM head office in Magdeburg, Germany employs an aluminum composite and glass façade. The curvaceous exterior was achieved with the use of Alucobond A2 material in Sunrise Silver Metallic and Sky Blue finishes. The headquarters was designed by pbr Planungsbüro Rohling AG of Stuttgart to showcase the company’s corporate branding, as well as a commitment towards an innovative future.
The architects utilized the company’s product range as its basis for design. The mechanical engineering experts manufacture materials handling systems.
As the company explains, “The employees of the FAM Group have the know-how for bulk materials handling, mining systems, stockyard systems, mineral processing, loading systems, conveying systems and port technology. More than 50 percent of FAM employees work for engineering.”
Unlike other industrial buildings, the headquarters, located in Southern Magdeburg, makes a bold statement meant to evoke modernism. The building is completely enveloped in large format silver Alucobond panels, which curve to conform to the structure’s rounded orientation.
The heavy use of glass throughout the exterior allows for a light-filled atrium and illuminates the five-story façade with natural light.
The company’s corporate colors were utilized as the blue window reveals and also featured as the Sky Blue Alucobond panels throughout the ground level. Interestingly, the interior features a steel interior elevator, designed and built by FAM, and also features the company’s signature blue.
In addition to the enveloping glass curtain wall, a glass roof was installed to further enable natural light to penetrate the interior creating a luminous ambiance.
