A new standard replacing a 2009 precedent establishes the requirements and test methods for durability, resistance, safety and functionality of these accessories for doors and windows in particular
Variable geometry arms (with or without friction system) are accessories for windows and doors. For them a new European standard appeared that replaces a precedent of 2009. It is the UNI EN 13126-6: 2018 published a few days ago by Uni with the title in Italian but text in English (!): Accessories for windows and doors – Accessories for windows and French windows – Requirements and test methods – Part 6: Variable geometry arms (with or without friction system). The price is 55 €, subject to reductions.
The summary of the standard explains that it establishes the requirements and test methods for durability, strength, safety, functionality of mechanically driven variable / parallel geometry cranes (with or without friction system) with or without integrated limiters, in accordance with the common application.
Through the standard, the user of recognized tested mechanisms can assume that, through proper use, the variable / parallel geometry arms (with or without friction system) for windows comply with the prescribed requirements. The balancing arms / hinges do not represent a friction system. For the purposes of this standard, the friction system is obtained by means of friction shoes or the like.
